Back after a prolonged absence...
...Called SSC. So one or two things have happened since... well, early July. Goddammit I was supposed to be getting better at updating.
So England lost, I came back to the states and got my ass into gear over SSC. Got some kick-ass trainers sorted out (thanks again!), hit up a couple of parties, showed the Canadian MC around NYC in the rain and shine, earned a new nickname thanks to a late-night game of Bitches Bitches at Trent's (won't say it here, but my diatribes were pretty legendary if I do say so myself). July is kind of a blur. I remember the good things though 8)
Looking back at conferences are always tough for me because I'm running all over the place, rarely get any downtime at the venue to be all introspective and evaluation-y and ultimately am far more likely to nitpick every little thing I did to find every possible negative in my performance, real or otherwise. But I'm told it was a solid event. Plenty of stuff to improve on from an execution-standpoint, but I'm really, really glad that so many people are coming away from Fort Wayne motivated and ready to make AIESEC US what it should be. There'll be a lot of photos coming out next week that take me a while to live down, but never let it be said that I'm not willing to roll up my sleeves and pitch in when it comes to looking stupid to make people smile 8)
Anyway, back in Bloomington, hitting up the campus bars and $1 beers with old friends. When I get back to NY: RoKS, training, Minados (please!) and moving in with my new room-mates, Nata and Emily.
Favorite memories from the conference:
- Finally learning the dance to Bonde do Tigrao
- Meeting a lot of awesome new members - it's going to be a good few years for AIESEC, and it's only going to get better
- The Training - it actually worked.
- The creation of the Dead Puppies game
- Nick's dancing
- NO NOISE COMPLAINTS OR POLICY VIOLATIONS.
- Bjaaaah!
- Tori being just about everything I could ask from her as chair and a little bit more
- Scott playing "Georgia Why" on the last night. Damn that's a good song.
A hundred thousand thank yous to everyone who attended, partied and worked so hard to make SSC 2006 what it was.
