Live from Dayton, It's Saturday Afternoon

First full day of conference, things going well. Congrats to all the LCs that won awards yesterday, and to Farid and Andrew for their individual accolades as well. New Year's tonight promises to be the shit - have a good one wherever you're celebrating!

"That boy sure is a runnin' fool"

And another thing - why can't I see the full scene of Robin Wright Penn playing a guitar in the nip, but the close-up shot of two guys getting nuked in Vietnam is good to go? It's like 10:20 at night! Watershed, anyone?

And 24hrs of continuous "Christmas Story"?

Damn you, American TV. Damn you.

Dear Santa

What'd be cool to get for Christmas - a big sign saying "Stop, Forrest". That movie is awesome.

Have a good one

Off to New Jersey for a family-filled festive foray - whatever you get up to this weekend, have fun doing it. Peace out!

PS - one of our EVP+ customers is Rockstar Games. That's Awesome.

Oh yeah, I was supposed to post today

Looks like the post I thought didn't go out in fact did, so less of a huge update. Anyway, since last time was another volleyball game and plenty of fun at Jen and Jill's place. We won the volleyball game, the first of our season proper - we were down 13-5 in the lasty game when one of our players scored 10 points in a row, which was pretty sweet. One time she knocked one of the other players over with a serve, which is always good for a laugh.

Christmas shopping all but done, a couple more days before I hit up NJ, a few more before the big day, and a few more before it's conference time.

NYC is kinda fucked

So the strike went ahead - resulting in working from Jill and Jen's place all day. Jen went all hardcore and walked to the office this morning, the crazy bastard.

First post in a while - I tried to post last week but the internet broke. Larger update tomorrow, when it looks like I'll once again be working from the upper west side.

The week in review

OK, been a while since my last post... so let's catch up!

- Last Thursday was the Rangers game in Madison Square Gardens against Pittsburgh. Big group, mainly from Jen's touch football team plus a few others including Rickesh, Suzanne, Carly, Jill and myself (4 US MCPs in total at the game if you include Joe). The game was fun, lots of hotdogs, not being 100% sure of what was going on and rampant cheering when New York scored. Not a huge hockey fan, but at least I can say that I've seen a pro game - just basketball and football to go (gotta go see the Colts next year).

- Friday was Jim's leaving party in the office; in a word: Epic. Beer pong tournament, hourly shots, too much beer and chocolates. Beer pong was a shitload of fun; the full rundown:

Round 1

- Farid and Dan (the Muslim and the Jew, ironically) beat Jill and George in a close game that lasted aaaaages.
- Jim and I played another close game against The Accountants, but we lost when it turned out that Nata is really, really fucking good at beer pong.
- Sarah and Carly's friend Sam knocked out by Jen and "Stone Cold" Chris Basaman by a good 2 cups.

Playoff

As Jen and ChrisB had a score of +2 in their game, they went through to the final while Team Irony and The Accountants battled for a spot in the champeenship with them. Natalie's superior technique takes them through.

Final - The Accountants v Jen 'n' ChrisB

In another close game, Jen and ChrisB edge out Nata and Paul by one cup. Tourney MVP: C-Bass.

Then we played flippycups for ages, even managing to get the neighbours to come and play (who turned up in costume). At this point I was wearing a wig under my hoody hood, making me look like the bastard love-child of Rivers Cuomo and Noel Gallagher. There are definately pictures somewhere...

Eventually people headed to bars and restaurants (I headed home - I was in desperate need of a TO by that point) - but good, good times all in all.

- Yesterday was the volleyball scrimmage for the team that Jill, Sarah, Dave, Scott, Joe, myself and several others are on. Lot of fun, the other team was cool and the happy hour was suitably awesome to end the night. We even managed to get $30 worth of beer off the other team by performing a synchonized dance to our team song (and name), Bump and Grind. Play of the night was Jill psyching out the other team by pretending to dig the ball, but instead headbutting it. It stayed in play and everything! It is now our team's secret play, under the code-name "Jill gives good head".

8:10 now... 50 minutes until my training session starts...

Oh shit, it's December

No, really - Oh Shit, It's December. I need to sort out my Christmas shopping double time, not to mention finish up WSC. At least we have a chair now. Who, you ask? You'll have to wait... Jen, Jill and I are heading to the Rangers game tonight, which is a first for all of us I think. Jill mentioned that we might see a fight break out. It's a long way from hockey in gym class at High School...

Volleyball games start next week. Any ideas for team names? We're currently "Spike Me? Spike You!", but we can do better.
