Just not the same...

Sigh... Today is a day for watching football championships with friends, eating snacks for 6 hours straight and not doing anything in particular... But alas I'm in Manchester, where its cold and sunny (before the rain returns tomorrow) and my dissertation is pulling at my trouser-leg like some kind of attention-starved 4 year old. Like last weekend I'll be "watching" the play-by-play updates online for the Eagles-Falcons game, but probably not for the Pats-Steelers (starts pretty late and ends later still).

After the Colts crashed out in typically subdued fashion last week (never mind Peyton, there's always next year), I guess I'm rooting for the Eagles as my Grandma lives in Philly and my Aunt used to work in the Natural History museum (I think... The one from Rocky. How sad is it that I only know if from a Sly Stallone pic?), so go Donovan, it's y'birthday etc. Ultimately I'd rather just watch the games, but not gonna happen... Having said that, me and a few other AIESECers are trying to put together some kind of Superbowl party (I'm supplying Madden and beer pong!) - the only trouble with it so far being that 1) no-one has satellite TV (which we need to see the game), and 2) Superbowl Sunday this year is the 6th of February, which happens to be the last day of a conference - the day the MC VPs are elected...

But hey, it might work out ok. We'll either be all hardcore and stay up and watch the game (whatever happens I think I'll want a drink after the conference), or we'll get someone to record it and watch it a few nights later. Not that I'm a football buff or anything, but I'm not sure Brady'll be losing a playoff/championship game anytime soon...
